And if you can’t help but wonder why, today marks the much anticipated 135th birthday of Yamaha Music - and what better way to celebrate the birth of music excellence than by enjoying its rhythm?

At the heart of the Yamaha Music brand story lies a lesson of an innovation-filled attitude we can all learn from. As most of us know, the big Yamaha Music brand that we love and serve daily all started with one instance of inspiration. Yes, one instance only and here we are now!

After being honoured with a request to repair a reed piano and successfully fulfilling it, Yamaha founder, Torakusu Yamaha did not only feel inspired to create his own, he also saw his vision through and brought his first piano ever to life. To his delight, this would be one of many more to come.

But as is the case with any real-world success story, Torakusu was confronted with multiple challenges. His first piano lacked proper tuning, naturally making him a recipient of public backlash. But being the exemplary leader that he was, he used this as a driving force and created a more credible and quality piano in 1900 – a milestone that became the beginning of what we now know as Yamaha Music.

Years have come and gone, but Yamaha Music continues to deliver music excellence. And this is a result of all the values embodied in our core pillars as inspired by Torakusu: Yamaha Quality, Corporate Excellence, Customer Experience and finally, the Yamaha Way of doing.
