This week, the nation is saying farewell to the 39th president, Jimmy Carter.

Carter, who only served one term, has some folks believing the 1979 hostage situation, where 50 Americans were held captive in Tehran by Iranian revolutionary forces, played a role in his failed re-election.

I was 9 years old when that stuff with Carter/Reagan happened. I remember Carter was shamed somehow, but Carter’s post-presidency was a 1, 000 times better than anything Reagan has done.

I remember it pretty well. I got to vote for the first time in 1980. Unfortunately, we wound up with one of the worst Presidents in history in 1981--a guy who should have been in prison for his treason.

I was 11 yrs old when Carter became President and 15 when he lost to Reagan. I felt there was something off about why Carter lost to Reagan because Carter was such a wonderful and caring President. Reagan seemed the total opposite and i only remembered him as an actor. I couldn't stand Reagan. Like I always said, Reagan ACTED his way all throughout his Presidency! And a racist.

We had a joke back then, I was 19, "What's flat and glows in the dark? Iran, 20 minutes after Ragen takes office." It was 2 hrs after the swearing in, the hostages were on a plane to Europe, then home. I'll never forget it.

In Middle School (in the 1990s), I loved History class. One of the small little stories in our history books was the one about Reagan removing the solar panels that Carter put on the White House. I've always hated the Reagan Administration since then. It wouldn't have harmed anyone to keep them on the roof.
