Understanding California's new school gender identity law

California Gov. Gavin Newsom this week signed a bill that bans school districts from notifying parents if students want to go by a new gender identity. Assemblymember Corey Jackson, who wrote the bill, responds to critics.

The understanding is clear. A ten year old kid can go to a school and tell to the teacher "now I am a cat" the teacher will make a party and parents will never know. Now the part I don't understand is how Californians that are parents agree with this in any capacity.

It’s not the school responsibility to raise children. The parents should know their children and are responsible. Either the school is going too far or they’re not going far enough. That’s always the argument.
