a bioactive enclosure with the substrate made of organic soil, coconut husk, orchid bark, sand, and charcoal, with a cleanup crew of springtails and isopods would take care of mold and any dead or decaying plant or fecal matter that you were not able to remove completely.

I personally don’t recommend getting reptile kits just because they don’t come with all the right supplies. I recommend just doing your research and buying what your reptile needs.

One thing about this is go use coconut fiber bedding for ball pythons it helps a lot trust me it’s perfect

reptiles need light, i dont know why you said they dont need light but they need a day and night cycle. Heat mats also burn your snakes and you should just use a basking light, uvb and led

I may not have someone that I personally know that's a snake owner but my cousin/roommate is a gecko owner for 5 years and he's been helping me out with reptile keeping in general not to mention he's giving me a 24×18×12 exo terra with lighting and a temp/humidity gage

I'm glad I subscribed and this came up in my recommendation. I'm considering getting my first snake and didn't have a clue.

6:40 I don't think that Zilla Critter Cage is the same as a "Frankenstein" tank + screen lid + lid clamps. The Zilla Critter Cage had a sliding screen lid that CLICKS into place when it is closed. Therefore, making it very secure and unlikely for your creature to escape.

I’ve probably seen this video like 1000 times but it’s so helpful

Where do u install the thermostat probe. People say tape it on the bottom of the tank and then install the heat mat over it. Then people say install in the bottom of the tank above the heat mat.

Why dont u put alluminum.tape on the top mesh that will keep the heat in

What if your house stays at about 70? Should you then get light sources?

You should always give a ball python two hides

all of them are why to small for a adult you need. 75 gallon minimum

Aquariums are not the idea enclosure due to the lack of ventilation, poor heat retention (unless you live in a country where the ambient air temperature remains around 75F ) - Also, Royal (ball) pythons really require warm air environment so ceramic heaters are better then heat pads. Been keeping and breeding Royals in the UK for over 30 years and really whilst the advice in this video is good, it's not ideal for Royals. The thermal gradient that is discussed won't be applicable when using heat mats as they don't heat the air, they induce heat via IR into the substrate and animal that sits above it.

120 gallons is optimal for an adult ball python

My ball python doesn’t hide he has places to hide but like he hides in plain sight and I see him and I said no he sees me see him I don’t know if that’s normal or not or maybe because I got him at Petsmart and they had three ball pythons in a small tank they practically had him in a glass shoebox with no hiding spot and there was a bright ass light on all three of them all day
