Easiest Way to Match Subtitles in MPV Using Multiple Profiles

Generally, the content you stream from are all delayed a certain amount from the actual subtitle timing. This can be easily solved by setting up profiles for the different shows you watch so that you don't have to manually set sub-delay each time you watch the same show on MPV.

At 6:40 I made an error in setting up the input line. It should be "cycle-profiles" instead of "cycle-profile", following the format below

p script-message cycle-profiles "profile1;profile2;profile3"

I had to make my own mpv config file from scratch and disable the default one. I also had to work out the sub delay ms since mines were 5 and 6 digits long. After that, it works like a charm. Thanks!

this one took a bit of time because i found out that my input.conf wasn’t actually saved as a conf file because it was a txt file. fixed that and it created the profiles. another great vid, this channel is underrated af

ニセコイは私の好きなアニメの1つです(笑)When I was in high school I read ニセコイ with comics. Btw, I've been learning English to become fluent. I sometimes learn English from your videos. Good luck with your learning Japanese!! お互い頑張りましょうね😄

hi Jarod! I've followed the steps but somehow my subtitles still aren't timed properly. When I downloaded the lua file it saves as txt instead of lua despite choosing "all files" format when being saved, could this be the problem? Also, when I go into mpv.config to set the delay the title in the bracket should be the full name of the file I have, right? For example the mkv file is titled "Cardcaptor Sakura Clow Card_S01E01JA_" so it should be [Cardcaptor Sakura Clow Card] to have it set delay for the whole anime?

Thanks for the video!
