What rims and tires are you running on your X1140? I love mine but about time for tires and thinking about rims. I love my X1140 but I do have to agree with your cons for the most part but I knew about them before I purchased mine. When shifting, if you haven't been told, if it doesn't want to go into gear, first, be sure parking brake is off, second just burp the throttle and shift. Normally that is all it takes. The transmission is not synchronized. Also be sure your foot is on the brake as it engages a relief valve on the HST. You also may know this but if you want to raise the bed with the engine off you can push the lift lever all the way down into float mode and you can manually lift the bed for service etc. Just a couple of things not everyone knows about these machines.

I have the same machine as you do, and love it, for the most part!
I have 70 acres, and have put over 1, 600 miles on my RTV, with 600 hours on it. My RTV is just now starting to "rattle" somewhere around the muffler, but I have yet to find the source.
My only complaint is the tires on my RTV, as they seem to clog up with mud, and it gets slick enough to not pull my hills after rain.
I agree with it shifting hard, and it DEFINITELY TAKES A LOT OF ROOM TO TURN AND MANUEVER through my woods.
But I got used to it. In fact, I need a longer turning radius because I have the BigToolRack YardRack installed on the front of my RTV.
I operate my RTV mostly in the four seater position, and rarely fold the rear seats to increase the bed storage.
The one thing I noticed with mine, is that I have to be careful when standing on the bed, with my spray tank installed, as the bed will tend to tilt if I am not careful. I wish there was a latch to LOCK the dump bed in place.

I have three of them. That box can handle three thousand pounds and still dump. Be careful turning the sides in. My was a little stiff. I forced it open and the metal hinge ripped. They are very thin metal. My 2014 model is a little stronger because it’s better metal than the new design. Take care.

What is the best way to add fuel. Do you have to lift the back seat? We have been using a long funnel, because we can't access it without one.

I tried the Kubota diesel and found it to be extremely underpowered.
