"One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind"... Almost 50 years later, we reveal the British engineers whose genius helped put two men on the moon.

The Apollo 11 landing in 1969 is still one of the greatest achievements of mankind, the images iconic and the atmosphere of hope and excitement unparalleled. The names Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong are known around the world.

Hundreds of thousands of people worked on the project in 20,000 companies - among them a few hundred British engineers and scientists.

With access to their personal Apollo archive, Newsnight's Adrian Harrison now speaks to them about their part in, arguably, the world's biggest journey.

Newsnight is the BBC's flagship news and current affairs TV programme - with analysis, debate, exclusives, and robust interviews.

Let's also not forget another great Brit, Sir Isaac Newton, whose laws of physics made all this possible.

Such heroes! British & Irish scientists are so awesome, it's great to see their contribution to this. This is what happens when humankind works together, and not with division.

Thank you to our British friends who helped make the Apollo 11 Moon Landing possible, says this US American here.

C'mon, now, BBC. You guys lost (or erased!!) your video of your coverage of the Apollo 11 Moon landing!

(That and the erasure of the series 'Misleading Cases', with Alistair Sims as a judge.)
