Sarah Weismer - Light One Candle (Peter Paul and Mary Cover)- Lyrics & Fire
Показать описание
Peter, Paul and Mary's "Light One Candle" was one of those Chanukah songs that really stuck with me from when I learned it in my elementary school choir.
The lyrics cut even deeper for me now, decades later, and pairing them with images of candle flames is a mesmerizing, if not meditative audiovisual experience.
Working together with Rep Zac on the track and my husband on the production, I was able to reimagine the song in the way its spirit exists in my heart.
Please join me in lighting one (or eight) candles with appreciation and gratitude for life, justice, freedom, courage, strength, perseverance, hope, and peace...for starters :)
Music Track by Rep Zac:
Audio Production by Tim O'Neil using GarageBand, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, and AKG P220 microphones.
Video Editing by Sarah Weismer using Canva Pro for source imagery and iMovie (so frustrating - I'm using Final Cut Pro next time FOR SURE).
Lyrics:
Don't let the light go out
It's lasted for so many years
Don't let the light go out
Let it shine through our hope and our tears
Light one candle for the Maccabee children
With thanks that their light didn't die
Light one candle for the pain they endured
When their right to exist was denied
Light one candle for the terrible sacrifice
Justice and freedom demand
Light one candle for the wisdom to know
When the peacemaker's time is at hand
Don't let the light go out
It's lasted for so many years
Don't let the light go out
Let it shine through our hope and our tears
Light one candle for the strength that we need
To never become our own foe
And light one candle for those who are suffering
Pain we learned so long ago
Light one candle for all we believe in
That anger not tear us apart!
And light one candle to bind us together
With peace as the song in our hearts
Don't let the light go out
It's lasted for so many years
Don't let the light go out
Let it shine through our hope and our tears (x3)
Don't let the light go out
Don't let the light go...
Don't let it go (x2)
