Yoo jan, kinde and clerk are crazy librarys and fast, but they are paid. Can we find open source and the same easy?

I would like to update the user’s role without needing to enter the Kinde admin. For example, on a screen, the logged-in user clicks on ‘I want to test a demo, ’ and I trigger an action that updates the user’s role in the user table from DEFAULT to DEMO, for instance. Can you show us how to do this?
