We are finally here. The end of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series regular season is about to roll and officially set the field for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. With that there are three open spots for NASCAR’s postseason for five possible drivers to point their way in while a whole host of others can only rely upon winning as their golden ticket in. So,

Chastain is either going to win, or he's going to finish outside of the top 30. If he doesn't win, I don't think we'll see any shakeups, barring a catastrophic engine failure from the JGR cars or Buescher just choking.

Stages are going to be incredibly important. If Buescher struggles to get stage points and Wallace manages to run top 5, Buescher is suddenly going to have a ton of pressure.

My mind told me that Daytona was the cutoff completely forgot they changed it this year

Unless a surprise winner happens, which is way more unlikely at a place like Darlington compared to Daytona I just don't see anything changing above the cutline to knock anyone out. The ones currently in will most likely be the ones that make the playoffs. I'm not a Bubba Wallace fan, but I'm disappointed that he's been knocked below the cutline after Daytona. I wish NASCAR would make the eligibility rule to only apply to winners in the top 25 in points if they're going to keep the win and you're in system.

Tbh as a fan of KB for the last 11 years I’m at peace with this season. Every driver has an awful season (Denny 2018 for example). If he were to win a strategy race at some point in the playoffs that would be amazing but I’d rather him and RCR shift their focus to 2025 and be ready in February

I have some gut feeling that one of the Gibbs guys on the bubble are gonna wreck out of the race and end up missing the playoffs, while the other one, Buescher, and Wallace/Chastain make it on points. Feels like the winner is gonna be "underwhelming" and probably just someone like Larson or Hamlin.

I think Truex, Buescher, and Chastain, get in. I feel like Toyota is going to give Gibbs one of their bummer engines and he's going out early and I think Ross runs up front like he did in Spring '23 before he was taken out by Larson. I think Phil Surgen's seat is one the hottest in the Cup Series.

Busch will get it. The 8 team and that car has been very fast as of lately and after finishing 2nd last week he’ll be motivated to do whatever he can to keep the win streak alive and make the playoffs and have a chance to win the championship
