In summary: It looks cool, it's just not a good adaptation

to be honest, I'd do what they did with the spectacular symbiote suit, I would have made it almost the same at first pretty much-mimicking peters suit, then slowly transforming it into a more comic-accurate one. almost as if it was trying to help gain Peter's trust by mimicking something it knew was essential to peter. 👀 only to later become something so far removed from what peter & spider-man represent.

I really loved what they did in Spectacular Spider-man in terms of Peter wearing the symbiote.
When he first wore it unknowingly it was just black version of the red and blue suit. But the more Pete gets to use it, he gets angrier, and the suit evolves more to that of the Classic Black Suit.
I really would love to have that kind of idea transition to live-action.

Gotta disagree on this one, but I understand why you feel this way. I absolutely LOVE this costume. This is my favorite costume to show up in a Spider-Man movie besides the tasm1 suit.

respectfully disagree with this one, the raimi black suit is so sleek and intimidating. The lack of webs and bigger logo just wouldnt look natural on this version of the costume.

Hard disagree, I'm 100% more of an Andrew fan, both TASM 1 and 2 suits are definitely top 3 best spiderman suits for me but, in spot 2 or 3 is the black raimi suit. I adore this suit. It's sleek and empowering in a way. The use of silver not just in the lenses but in the webbing, logo, and even the shiny brick pattern on the suit gives it this feeling that I'm not even sure how to explain. The raimi design works much better in the black suit than the red and blue in my opinion

Edit 1, there are a few extra bts shots of the full black (comic accurate) suit and after seeing them, they 100, 000% look like a gimp suit. It had the texture of the matte side of a trash bag and you could clearly see the seams. At first I thought it was a stupid cop-out when seeing that first picture but other pictures of it in action show it more of like what Raimi was talking about

The suit they have in the movie makes you feel intimidated by just the way it looks. That's why it's one of my favorite suits beside the 1st tasm suit

Whether you like the Raimi black suit or not it’s hard to deny that the best thing about it was that awesome music attached to it.

Man, I gotta disagree here. I think the classic black suit is just too simple to directly translate to screen and have it be visually interesting. The Raimi version, while simple, is very effective and I always thought it was one of the sleekest looking live action Spidey suits.
The prototype suit shown in photos kinda proves this, its just boring shiny latex. I don't think its very good at all.

I think it's 100% fine to have spider-man and peter parker to seem like two different people, that's the point. Spider-Man is talkative and outgoing. Peter...is not. Peter is a different person when he's Spider-Man, except morally, but it's supposed to represent that Peter is entirely different. I think the Raimi suit does great at that and I believe that all 3 of the Tobey Spider-Man suits come in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best looking on screen spidey suits (only behind the Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit) as well as the Tobey Maguire trilogy being my favorite in general.

The biggest disappointment for me is that it was treated like a regular suit more than a symbiote attached to him. He rips it off at the end, but it just felt like he could have just taken it off like he had been easily able to before, there wasn't much showing that it was leeched onto him to play up that scene further.

I created essentially the Spider-Man 3 black suit as a kid playing around with Photoshop in around 2005. I remember wanting to see what an “evil Spider-Man” would look like, and couldn’t decided if the eyes should be white or black—or how to change the eyes to black in Photoshop.

I completely, respectfully, disagree on this take. I always thought the classic black suit was boring. It was just black with barely any white, only the logos, eyes, and fists had any white on them. It was a terrible contrast to the Amazing classic suit. The classic black suit failed to contrast the og classic Spidey suit, and it was a boring design that could've used more color. I love the Spiderman 3 black suit, Raimi and his team made it interesting, cool, and contrasts the classic Raimi Spidey suit perfectly. As much as I still love both classic and Raimi suits, Raimi's version is more appealing. I really hope in the next Tom Holland movie, after No Way Home, they design a great classic black suit. Other than that, great video, I just disagree on your take.

The symbiote adapts to what you're already wearing, so it would make sense that the raised webs would be on the Black suit. It wouldn't make sense to have the white squares because Peter already has organic webbing, and the suit, for the most part, doesn't change your body's makeup but enhances it. I can agree that the spider emblem could've been made in a different way so as to look more classic, but when you break down the symbiote and suit design, it's the smartest design that fits in that universe. Whether we like it or not.

Never been so early. I'm assuming this means that your making a series for every movie suit because I need more character design content from you since I just love listening to what you think about these suits.

So what your saying is that the suit is “Brilliant but lazy.”

Personally, I think the suit we got is the way to go. A full on black suit is way too simple for live-action, and it leaves it looking like naked black body paint.

This can even be seen with the mcu concept art of a black suit Tom Holland. They added like a bunch of white swirls (veins) breaking throughout the whole body, which I guess makes it look alien, but I thought the black suit was trying to disguise itself as clothing/a suit, not give away that it’s a living alien cus that’s what lead to Peter taking it off.

The only change I would make to the Spider-Man 3 black suit is to give it the classic symbiote logo, but keep everything else the same.

When talking about black suit adaptations, I really like how Spectacular Spider Man's version works (would be cool to see something like that in Raimi's SM3), where at the start is a black version of the red&blue suit but as time goes on and Peter starts to get more and more affected by the symbiote the suit slowly becomes the comic accurate version

One of my favorite things about Spectacular Spider-Man was that for the venom saga of episodes it started out looking like the suit in Spider-Man 3 and then as it began to take more control, it became the suit from the comics, getting rid of a little webbing here and there and making the logo larger bit by bit, scene by scene. I just absolutely LOVE that idea, and there is NO mention of the suit changing at all, it's just visual story-telling and taking advantage of the medium of an episodic series. Plus in doing so, it's paying homage to the Raimi movies AND how it traditionally looks.

Spectacular just SLAPS man.

Given how integral the raised webbing is to the image of Raimi Spidey, I can't really imagine a black suit looking right without it. He'd simply look too "naked" compared to his previous 2002 and 2004/2007 suits. That said, the fact that they still managed to give the iconic symbiote logo to Venom but not Peter is such a kick in the teeth. That general logo shape is way more iconic than any lack of webbing could be, ESPECIALLY seen from a distance. If that iconic logo was just added to the front and the back logo stayed the same (I like the Raimi black suit logo, so I'd like to keep it), then the design would feel a lot more true to the source material.

Ideally, I think a good middle-ground blueprint for live-action spidey has already been established, and that would be the second black suit in the Spectacular Spider-Man show. The front logo is clearly mimicking the iconic black suit we know, the back logo is a warped version of the classic suit's, and there's still webbing to have good balancing of white to black without the design looking too naked or too busy
