ATTENTION: If you do not know what you're doing with charging batteries, please learn more about this before attempting. Charging batteries incorrectly can result in a fire. I am only using this smart charger for discharging my batteries to storage voltage. I have no use for it to charge them, as the original charger works well for that. If you decide to use it for charging, make sure to look into safety precautions.

With the base charger only fully charging batteries, that leaves the radios I leave in storage wasting away (leaving a battery at full charge is bad for it). Ideally you leave Lithium Ion Batteries at 3.7 volts per cell. Leaving it fully charged will reduce the life of the battery.

This is an easy and cheap (if you have a charger you use for RC batteries already) way of solving the problem.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to DISCHARGE the Baofeng (anything other than 1S) on my smart charger I had to use the NiMH discharge settings, not Li Ion. I believe this has to do with the lack of balance leads. Please make sure you know what you're doing before attempting this, I would hate for the wrong settings in your charger to ruin your battery.

For those of you asking...yes...you COULD connect multiple chargers together this way, however, you do risk a fire (all the batteries should be VERY similar voltages to start). Please look into that more before doing it. It's called parallel charging. Personally, I will just use the charger it came with when I need a full charge.

Storage Voltages: (BF-888S) 1S 3.7, (UV5R) 2S 7.4.
