I don't know how to explain it very well, but I think Super is much more fun to watch and consume than GT in its entirety.

I like Super more because I feel like the battles and powers are just a lot more creative, and there is so much more diversity in terms of fighting styles. Characters like UI Goku, Hit, Jiren, Zamasu, Granolah, and Moro all have their own distinct set of powers and fighting styles, which is something that I think GT characters lacked. All the fight scenes in GT felt too similar and not diverse enough.

I don't care if this is an unpopular opinion, but I absolutely LOVED DBS. Even if the plot wasnt as strong as it could be, it made up for it with its funny humor, amazing fight scenes, unique powers, and making some old characters relevent again. In terms of these aspects, I don't think GT really had them. GT humor was eh, fight scenes were okay at best, but I gotta admit SSj4 was awesome.

SS4 is better because it feels more achievable in reality. That long black hair is dope.

I will always prefer DBS to GT solely because of how GT disrespects all of the side characters and humans. DBS does a lot more with the side characters and actually gives them amazing moments such as Roshi's final kamehameha against Ganos, Piccolo getting a new form, and getting to see Krillin back in action again. GT does nothing with its side characters besides kill them off, which is what happened to andriod 17, krillin, and piccolo.

The main problem with GT is that it tries WAY too hard to tone down the tension and power scaling, but it does a very bad job at it. They turn Goku into a kid in order to nerf him to allow weaker characters time to shine, but then they immediatley decide to give Goku a form much stronger than any form he had in DBZ? What was the point of nerfing him in the first place then!?? The worst part about this is that despite Goku's nerf, he still steals the spotlight from the other members of the cast, such as Pan and Trunks.

GT has always been boring in the way it treats the characters. People always like to talk about "the good concepts" in GT, but the only concepts that are even good is the shadow dragons and Baby. I can't expect anyone to look me in the eye with a straight face and try to tell me that Super 17, turning Goku into a kid, and the black star dragon ball arc are "good concepts".

I've always enjoyed Super more because it looks out for all of the characters a little better. Letting us see them reach greater heights and following up on where we last saw them before the timeskip. An evolving adventure with everyone getting their shine. GT to me however always comes across as trying to end the series and take the characters down for a larger ultimate battle.

For example in Super the characters still train and even through the TOP - Moro - Super arcs realize they can go even further than they ever believed. Master Roshi, Piccolo, Gohan, Tien, Vegeta, Krillian, 18, 17, Goten, Trunks (even Yamcha) all of them are self improving.

But for GT it's as if they have accepted defeat and don't get the opportunity to show us more or have their arcs grow. Vegeta while content, is actually struggling with where to go next with his self improvement without a cause, 17 even though we last saw him as a park ranger is cloned, ripped of his individuality and placed on a mission to end the world while trolling his sister, contrast that to Android 17 from Super who protects a whole wildlife reserve, has a wife and two kids, found a way how to survive a self destruction moves which parallel that the androids could be blown up, grows in power, respects and meets with sisters husband and their kid, resolved his differences with piccolo, is almost an active z warrior at this point. and has learned to value all life so much in contrast to his future self that he saved 8 whole universes from permanent erasure with his wish via the the Super Dragon Balls.

And that's not even getting into the difference another character like say Piccolo. Who is now possible stronger than Goku, we now have a lot more lore on, was blessed by the very dragon balls he created, has show to grow so close to the son family that he even takes care of pan, has gotten to see his student learn his makankosapo, keeps up with his training and tries to fight when he can, even developing new techniques and accepts who he is while at the same time in contrast to while he was ma junior making it clear of his additional separated from Demon King as something no longer himself.

And so on.

There are soo many differences with how each series treated the characters. I simply cannot leave what better levels of good Super has done for the cast to the wayside.

Between DBS and GT, but I think DBS just has much more rewatch value imo. Even if just for the fights alone, DBS serves as a much more entertaining storyline to rewatch rather than GT. I rarely find myself going back to watch clips from GT, but I frequently rewatch clips from DBS.

The thing about the whole GT vs DBS debate is that neither series needs to exist. They both feel like DLC created simply for the purpose of capitalizing on the DB franchise for a bit longer. With that being said, I think DBS works a lot better as the "sequel series". DBS revitalizes the franchise with a whole new world of powers, potential enemies, and future plotline. GT just feels like its trying to squeeze all the potential plotlines left over from DBZ-era rather than create something new. In that sense, i feel like Super's existence is more justified, which is why I prefer it.

DBS is definitely better than GT for a variety of reasons. First of all, it actually utilizes the side characters that were forgotten in late-DBZ and ACTUALLY gives them great moments. On the otherhand, GT just makes every side character look like a joke. And DBS was just INFINITELY more intersting with the powers utilized and concepts introduced. The only interesting concept/power in GT was Baby's whole "body stealing" thing.

Finally someone said it. GT's best part is super saiyan 4 and an adult Goku, but that's it. GT thrashes away the side characters like Gohan, Vegeta and so many more. But Super gives them their own episodes and moments. Goku Black is way better than omega Shenron and all the GT villians. And Goku Vs Jiren is more better than anything in GT. Not to mention, the autonomous ultra instinct.

I thought this was a given but based off these comments I can see there’s some disagreement. I’m not even Super’s biggest fan but GT… man talk about something being better on paper than in actuality.

Edit: 3 months later, Now that I’ve gone back and watched GT again for the first time in quite some time: I gotta admit it’s a lot closer and I might actually give GT the edge which I didn’t when I originally commented. Among many things, GT simply has the heart where Super has always felt very corporate and safe.

DBS feels like the more logical continuation of where DBZ left off imo. The initial premise of Goku and Vegeta making their way through the domain of the gods in DBS just makes a lot more sense to me than having Goku randomly become a kid again, and work with Trunks and his grandaughter to find some random new set of Dragon Balls that had never been talked about before. DBS as a concept just works so much better for me.

My nigga. Yes DBS has better story but nothing can beat the looks of SSJ 4 and SSJ 4 Gogeta. Those to forms look so good VS ssj blue or whatever.

I don't think anyone will disagree that with GT, SS4/Gogeta was a lot more original in both design and powers.
