Are you planning out your high school homeschooling years? Or are you in the middle of it all, or even graduated a child or two or three? Share your thoughts and any wisdom you may have to share!

I’m so glad she picked Thinkwell, I think we may be leaning towards that as well. I’m really looking forward to hearing more about how that goes for y’all! 😄

I really enjoy your planning videos. I am not organized like you and I love seeing you organize everything. This video in particular really helped me as I will have an 8th grader as well.

My daughter chose thinkwell for next year after doing a survey of a few different programs. I think it will be a good fit for her and hope we can just stick with it!

I think for history not doing American History depends on your state. Our state requires specifically an American History course for the high school diploma/ transcript.

Wait! I didn’t realize you are also in WA!!! Feel free to always share about WA so that I learn a lot, aha!! My 8th grader will be doing schormann in the fall! We are leaving our second year of Saxon, as we like Saxon, but I feel we need a more official feel for math!

It sounds like your state is like mine. American History is required for public schoolers, but homeschoolers can do what they want. However, I believe most colleges expect American History, so that’s the consideration with it.

Have you looked at Shormann Math with Dive? It combines Algebra 1 and half Geometry in one year and then Algebra 2 with half Geometry in one year. So 3 credits earned in 2 years.

My twin son hated the videos on TGTB and he only watched it when he needed to!!! He asked to look at my old Singapore math books and he said he wanted to try it and I said it’s ok and months later he’s still on the “trial” and I keep saying he loves Singapore math!!! He keeps saying he’s still trying it out but it’s definitely his curriculum until a problem arises and if a problem doesn’t arise we will stick with Singapore math!!! In our state high school credits can start at 11!!! We have to submit work to the cover school!!! I have kids who struggle with academics but we can delay graduation and do daul enrolment after 18!!! We are in Australia and Aussie studies is a requirement here that includes Aussie history, geography and social studies!!!

I recently mapped out HS and planned out 9th grade. My daughter leans towards fine arts but she might do PT or fitness so we are doing traditional science. I think the college that fits your daughter if she chooses to go will accept her coursework. I don’t know if you already do some Spanish but ULAT, Flip Flop Spanish and Getting Started with Spanish are good introductory programs. I taught co-op HS Spanish 1 this year and my 8th grader completed it.

I've heard a lot of good things about teaching textbooks. I have a 6th grader. We are attached to Abeka, and so far, there are no issues with their arithmetic for her. We plan to stay with them but keeping in mind teaching textbooks incase we need to switch. We are stationed in Germany til June but our state is Illinois and plan to do dual enrollment, but as always it's early, we know she's a science brain so we are doing Apologia and gearing her up for a science future. Hopefully, once I get back to the States, we can get our feet wet in better preparation.
