This MCB won't reset and will need replacing but I nearly missed a more dangerous element did you spot it?

I spend all day removing line taps and fitting isolators, how they were ever deemed safe is mental !!

Spray the other 😅breakers with water then get the dog owner in and explain the whole house needs a rewire.

Its a Hager circuit breaker. I specialise in repair and maintenance and used to change a few Hagar 6 amp breakers that had GU10 halogen lamps on the circuit. When they fail they can trip the breaker so after a few years of this the breaker fails. Only had 2 40A breakers fail as well

Move the cables to a fuse the same size and then swap them, that should give you enough info

Line taps often used by car charger installers - used for supplying a separate mini consumer unit.

You didn't have to change it, all you had to do is up & down the mcb real quick for minute or two then tightly up the mcb and it'll latch no🧢, you can see tutorial on YT about non latching mcb

Don't know what line taps are but I come across a dicky circuit breaker now and again. I shut off all MCBs and introduce them one at a time and turn on the dicky (lazy breaker) , last. This usually works unless there is a dodgy appliance on that circuit in which case I unplug everything on that circuit. Problem still persists then more checks are needed if a new breaker doesn't fix it

Not ideal having taps off the live and neutral (I hope they aren't directly linked to before the meter lol, Naughty Naughty) It would be okay if feeding another consumer unit. I would change the faulty mcb. Happy days if it fixes the power issue.

I had no idea line taps were used in domestic installations.

Never seen those, reminds me of those shitty blue splices that you used on vehicle wiring. The ones that Pearced the cable insulation. Are those really getting used for jobless like this 😱

Faulty MCB... Never seen those line taps before tho! Are they feeding another board or what?

Edit, although the cable CSA is quite small... SPD device?

Never seen them before just look like clamps not tapping into anything

I’m sure beacuse their is an intermittent fault that won’t stop even when it’s stop which means strip down your house to find the fault and fix the damm pain in the arse and boom 💥 the mcb should work again 😮
