No dude. A physical mouse jiggler is the best solution. Lot of companies can see what you’re viewing on your screen “Hey John I see you’re constantly viewing the same PowerPoint over again everyday? What’s up with that?”

What worked for me is going on YouTube, finding a 10 hour video of rain music or something playing… have that open along with putting something down on the space bar (like she is doing with the nail polish) and stays available or busy the entire time.

OMG. Just schedule a recurring meeting. Join it, chat in it and leave. That meeting now appears in Chats and can be joined anytime. Join it from your phone with Audio Off. Your status will be Red “In Meeting.”👍

I see lots of folks saying this doesn't work, but I created a meeting, and shared my screen and it's showed me active without touching anything for 12 minutes now

Start a new video meeting with yourself. It will keep you on whatever status that you choose.

As helpful as this is meant to be, the real topic here is why work for companies that value physical presence over quality of work. I have worked in corporate for years and it astounds me that a person who sits in the same seat for 7am to 5pm and does the same amount of work as someone who only needs 2-3 hours but is still rewarded for “discipline & productivity” lol times are changing fast

Just make a meeting with only yourself in it . And keep your screen in sharing mode . It works for 30hrs,

I can manually just keep my status as active or do not disturb in MS Teams, without it changing to “away.”

This is a good trick for leaving the virtual workspace open which marks attendance based on hours. For teams, use the busy status.
