I had $500,000 ready to invest and was seriously considering buying a UPS franchise store

But then my friend Greg, who owned several UPS stores himself, gave me some pretty good advice that changed everything. He suggested I skip the franchise route and instead open an independent mail and shipping store. Why? Because going independent meant I could customize the layout, add as many mailboxes as I wanted, and have the flexibility to work with all major carriers. Game. Changer.

This experience taught me a valuable lesson: before diving into any big investment, it’s crucial to understand the limitations and opportunities of a business model. Sometimes, that extra bit of flexibility in an independent setup can be way more lucrative and scalable than a franchise. Doing your homework, researching thoroughly, and talking to industry insiders can make all the difference in maximizing long-term potential.

Just started working at a store when it opened 40 days ago. 9 out of 78 already filled for a year 2 more for 6 mos. Mind you we had no open sign for the forst 10 days. The drop offs and prints make nothing its all about the boxes and weighted/expedited packages
