Honestly 8440 a great tractor to have for alot of implements where a 4wd 215hp tractor would be a better fit then a row crop tractor of 79-82

Reminds me of when I was a kid. The farmer up the road from us had a JD8440 with a JD 8 bottom plow. I thought it was incredible. 😊Thanks Jason.

I remember when this farmer son would plant the rows so straight it was ridiculous. That was back in the 80's and it is was with one of those john deers.

My grandpa used to run a 1980 8640. Not sure what he pulled with it, but I have a list of implements. Might as well list off some of his tractors. 1982 MF 4880, 1980 JD 8640, 1992 Ford 8730, 1992 Ford 1920 SSS, 1983 Case 2090, 1980&81 MF 2705s. That's just what sold at the auction.

My Uncle had an 8440. One day I got it stuck. Very stuck. I could walk out of the cab onto the ground, I didn't have to use the step. It was the spring of 1983, or 1984.

I noticed the hammer strap missing on the draw bar and they are using a clevis between the reel disk and drawbar. Hope they don't take it down the road like that, things could go south quick with all the extra slop that creates

I've used a John Deere 8770 and 9220 to work ground with either a John Deere 1060 48' Field Cultivator or a Sunflower 1435 35' Disk. We have a John Deere 1610 Chisel Plow but I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the 1610 Chisel is 32'.

We had a 82 8440 and was it ever a good tractor. Never had a minutes trouble with it.
