BIG NEWS: Russian Ruble Breaks Resistance & Interest = Infinity

Показать описание
Ruble broke resistance. The RUB is at .0099 to the USD; once below a penny, resistance is broken, and the currency is highly likely to break down. The Interest rate reaches infinity because no person will have the confidence to hold Russian Rubles in cash or denominated in RUB. The natural rate is negative infinity in the sense of profit but infinity of the price of waiting.

The idea of an interest rate based on theory does not make sense in Russia.

This means the Ruble is really collapsing.

Most of the frozen $300bn Russian state assets aren't on American hands; they're in European banks. The interest from these assets is already being spent on Ukrainian aid, meaning Russia is paying for some of the weapons destroying Russian forces in Ukraine.

Russia has also lost the chance of any future investment by any Western organisation. Stealing assets from companies at whim is zero conducive to encouraging foreign companies.. You'd have to be insane to set up shop in Russia in the future.

Nice to listen to someone who cites references in their discussion. Thank you.

Putin knows this which is why he is desperate for a ceasefire and negotiations. We must not give him the "get out of jail card". Hang in there Ukraine, hold the lines, protect your army and wait for the day.

Ukraine is an iceberg.
And Russia is the Titanic.

When the ruble seemed to be recovering, for pro-Russians it was an indicator of how strong the Russian economy was. Now that it is falling, it is a trivial matter, having nothing to do with real life.

You make a very good point Mark. If I had say $100k to invest there is no rate of interest that would entice me to invest in anything denominated in rubles.

Solid explanation, Mark, thank you. Russia's war effort in Ukraine is untenable. It sucks all oxygen out of the economy: high interest rates, high inflatipn, no civil investments, no trust, no innovation, too expensive imports and so on. The ruble may at best stagger on as a domestic currency (partly supported by gold reserves and the remnants of the National Wealth fund).

In 2024, Russia will set a historic record for alcohol sales. This is a symptom of collapse. Russians want to drink a lot of vodka. The government is already discussing restrictions on alcohol sales, as it did before the collapse of the USSR in the 1980s.

No countries are accepting rubles. No foreign investment at all, and Russia lacks technology for the energy sector. Russian trains system is collapsing from neglect and lack of parts. Train Logistics will completely collapse their economy almost everything is moved by train.

Very clearly explained. I am getting the same predictions from Bill Browder and Vladimir Kara-Murza. The collapse will be sudden.

Just watching the state of the Russian military you can see it's not going well. In Kursk they've been using military transport trucks, civilian cars & Chinese golf carts as attack vehicles.
The Ukrainian FPV drones have been having a field day. Another sign of decline is having to bring in poor-quality N Korean supplies & troops.
I'm preparing myself for the collapse of Russia, which could happen at any time based on past experience. Unfortunately, my jar of empathy for Russia is empty.
