At SafetyQuip we have many clients with personnel

working in high voltage electrical roles.

Now that might be working on switchboards or in

switching rooms or in power stations or substations or

simply working on machinery or electrical equipment

that's of a high-voltage nature.

Now many clients are interested in managing the risk

of arc flash, which is light and heat produced from a

form of electrical explosion.

Now this kit here looks a little like a Halloween costume

gone wrong, or the outfit that Homer Simpson's wearing

at the start of The Simpsons TV Show.

It's actually the Elliotts T40 ArcSafe Arc Flash Switching Kit.

Now it consists of a hood with a visor and a hard hat

incorporated into it.

This is a coat or smock and there's gloves. The gloves are

designed to go over electrically insulated gloves

and there's also leggings, so there's full body protection.

With the Arc Safe T40 fabric.

The various items in the kit are supplied in this kit bag.

Now, each piece can be replaced separately if they're

damaged or lost.

Now, the fabric is what we call inherently flame resistant,

so it's not a coating on the top that might wear off or

wash off over time.

The fabric can be laundered.

Now, for the safety nerds in the group, the arc rating on

the fabric is 40.4 calories per cm2.
