Oppo Find X7 Ultra vs Vivo X100 Pro: Camera Shootout in the City

I took the Oppo Find X7 Ultra and Vivo X100 Pro out for a day of shooting around Hong Kong. Both phones bring awesome camera systems with a 1-inch main sensor and a really good zoom lens -- or in Oppo's casem two zoom lenses. The Find X7 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the Vivo X100 Pro runs on the Mediatek Dimensity 9300.

The Find X7 Ultra uses the new Sony LTY-900 1-inch sensor for main camera, while the X100 Pro brings back the 1-inch IMX989.

Your videos are excellent at providing detailed information and just because you didn't feature the Vivo so much in the previous video, it doesn't mean you're being paid off. Appreciate the time you take to give thorough reviews, especially since here in Canada you can't really test out these phones without buying them. Have to say I'm leaning towards the Vivo X100 pro because it's pretty much dead even with the Oppo and better in some regards, but also because it's available in a global version and not likely the Oppo will be

I know i've watched Ben's reviews here and there for years, he always praised and promoted Vivo, actually called it his favourite camera phone several times, he never seemed bias, and Ben, this is human nature, never put it to heart, whatever you do there will be those wrongly interpreting things, you are doing a good job, keep it up.

Despite Oppo having two hardware advantages over Vivo such as using a Snapdragon ISP and a newer version of the Sony 1" IMX989 (LTY900), Vivo still comes out ahead/on-par in 1x photos which is surprising. Both phones are still new, so it's not like one has had 1 year's worth of optimizations and firmware updates over the other. It looks like Vivo has better image processing thanks to their custom V3 chip and improved Zeiss T* coating which is making an all-round noticeable difference - your previous comments about them being the king of HDR still hold true. It's also approx $200 cheaper to import at the moment and most reviewers report longer battery life on it, plus I prefer the smoother zoom transitions on the Vivo across both photos and videos.

I would go with the Vivo. I think their software optimizations are better than Oppo's camera wise.
Other than that, imagine this is the pro version. The x100 pro plus will be their main flagship this year. Out soon.

Thanks Ben for sharing this and the effort you've put into it. As an Oppo X3 Pro user I still lean towards the Oppo, but sometimes the Vivo is better. Plus, the Vivo will get an international release for those of us in the UK!
