Cole The Cornstar, aka Cole, is a 4th generation family farmer from Central Iowa who is the life force behind his family’s 1,700 acre farm. Cole promotes agriculture by filming his day-to-day adventures with his Dad (Daddy Cornstar) and brother (Cooper) on the farm. With a lot of help from Daddy Cornstar, Cole instills humor and education into his videos fit for both young adults and adults. Despite being 23-years old, Cole has an old-fashion work ethic with an innovative approach toward agricultural technology and practices. Cole's mission is to prove the American Dream is not dead and be a megaphone for agricultural education and innovation, from technological advances in farming equipment to conservation practices.

Hey, Cole. I saw an awesome method of storing yard tools. Rakes, shovels, hoes, and all such items. I am sure a "thinker" can come up with more ideas. The guy who posted the method used discarded PVC pipe about 4 to 6 inches round. He cut them about 24+ inches tall. He stood them up and glued them together in a bundle. He also wrapped duct tape around them for extra holding power. When set up together they made for a bundle that he set next to the wall in his garage. He set the yard tools with the stick handle down into each pipe, sorted the items by use. I can't find the picture but it is an idea for your storage issues. I am going to do this in my garage when I can find some PVC pipe at a construction site. Discarded PVC. I will not steal it.

Field trips are so much fun. It's a good idea about checking equipment out in person before you buy it. Big thumbs up Cole and DC. Where's sweet Nave, I miss seeing her on the farm.

2.5 gallon plastic jugs work great for chain storage. Clean them out then drop the chain in and leave the hooks on the opening. When you need a chain just grab and go.

Put an air system on your draper bean head. Saves so many beans especially when really dry or they pop out of the pods
Save a bu per acre, 1000 acres =s nice little bonus

The best thing about cole he works with a smile on his face and it was one job at a time and after he finishes that job that's when he starts another job.

It seems you have a lot of irons in the fire, combine and heads, pad and silos, that beautiful old house (looking forward to that project). I wish the Cornstar family the best of luck.

I know more about corn and bean harvesting than I ever thought I would.

Cole the optimist. Yep everything in it's place and a place for everything. When does the new combine come in and how much work does it and its heads need to get ready. Should be a ton of stuff as its used. The draper head needs a wind system to blow the beans back to the belt but not out over the head. They build a rack with nozzles and it is another item to learn to adjust.

Re: making things more efficient. I remember in the beginning it was total chaos, and you (Cole) started cleaning up and organizing the place bit by bit, and you were pretty much going it alone. And now we see Daddy Cornstar cleaning up regularly. Looks like you are rubbing off on the ole man! Well done sir!

Cole, Don’t be concerned about the space between knives and draper belt, you’ll not regret buying a draper head. A draper will feed material to your feeder house so much smother than a auger, you’ll spend more time putting beans in the tank, and less time unplugging your feeder house and rotor. FYI Case IH drapers are rebranded Mac Don heads. Drapers do weigh quite a bit more than auger heads, so a 45’ would be pretty heavy.

If you decide to get a draper head put a crary wind system on it. It will help push the beans up on the belt. Larson Farms did a video on their draper head with the wind system on it.
