I received mine today, ordered from Amazon. I managed to buy it for £70.37 (UK) and that was the best price that I had seen - however I became a bit concerned after learning from your video that there's fakes about. So the very first thing I did even before I set it up was to come back here to check mine against this fake ...and phew, I'm relieved that I have a gen item. I'm now going off to set it up - so thx for the great video on what to look for in a Gen vs. Fake GS-2100.

3:26 look how the 9 o'clock marker is shorter on the real one in order to accomodate the flow of the dail, while in the fake one it interrupts the circle and is clearly longer.

I also noticed that the words G-SHOCK and PROTECTION on the bezel face are slightly curved on the genuine version compared to straight on the fake. Great videos, thanks so much for these

Compared this to my GA-2100-1A1 that I was lucky enough to buy from Tilly's and instantly spotted all the fake's flaws compared to mine. Definitely sticking to authorized retailers like so as these fakes are getting quite detailed, lol. Thank you for the info!

Thank you for this educational video. The biggest giveaway of a counterfeit watch is the DST and HND wording (perfectly aligned on a fake model), serial code on back case (font stands out from the writings), the circular day day indicator (sharp like curved claws on original, flattened on fake model) and the auto light function (fakes have this function, original doesn’t).

I notice the real one has a serial number on the back. The fake one has no serial number.

Also notice how the back of the hour hand covers way more of the day dial compared to the real thing when it’s about 2-3pm. If you look on the side of the fake, the 4 screws are more recessed into the case vs the real.

The axis that holds the hour-minute and day hands are the obvious giveaway, as well as the back plate and thickness. That is how I identify them personally.
