Although I admire their resilience, maybe it's time to consider leaving as they are going to get more hurricanes and tropical storms over the next couple of years. The costs of cleaning up and rebuilding will keep increasing with insurance companies no longer prepared to insure.

How many times should an insurance company pay to rebuild the same home? I live in MI, have had my home insurance for 22 years, never a claim, yet my insurance goes up every year. I guess I am helping to rebuild the homes in FL.

This is what happens when you building using wood. If you used solid cement or container homes that a bolted to the ground there will never be damage again. This is why houses in Europe and south America last thousand of years.

Looks like storm surge washed up a lot of rubble. Looking at the trees, they seem to have fared OK, which is not the case in the more-powerful storms which level everything.

They didn't suffer anywhere near category 4 wins that is straight water damage. If they did have cat 4 wins there would be no greenery left on the trees it would just look like tall sticks like after hurricane Andrew and even a lot of parts of Western browardafter wilmain Wilma was only a cat 2

The government should commandeer these plots of land and make them wetlands.

The last time this happened was roughly 100 years ago. 100 million years ago Florida was under water.

Rebuild? Sometimes you have to grab your head together here..Florida is a hurricane state, if you keep building it, the hurricane keep destroying it.. you're playing Russian roulette here
