I think I was 5 when I learn to swim....scariest ****ing thing in the world. Because they put me at the deep in on a diving board and told me to jump off and swim to my dad. the **** was learned how swim. I wonder if there was a better way. Maybe not....I think I learned how to over come extreme fear that same day.

I took my 3 month old swimming today. From everything I'd read online, she should have the diving reflex and hold her breath underwater, so I blew in her face and dipped her underwater for less than 2 seconds, maybe not even one, but she definitely inhaled water and she came up with wide eyes choking and coughing. Which gave us both a fright. She was fine, but I was terrified to put her head under again. She managed to inhale some water into her open mouth a little later in the swimming session, and ended up coughing and choking again. Is it possible she doesnt have this diving reflex, or am I doing something wrong, because I feel like the WORST mother.
