An amazing island....magnificent views....unique. I had the priviledge of visiting this island and yes, that new road is very necessary. Reunion is a "must" to visit if you love travel and you will definitely not be disappointed.

No mention of the many permanently closed beaches due to shark attack fatalities, otherwise nice place to visit. You can pretty much see the whole island in about 2 weeks. Not much different than Caribbean islands.

Makes me feel like taking the next plane there .seeing all the beautiful people. But I don't know about that highway it's strong enough for hurricanes but the cars are going to get blown over and getting a flat tire there could be scary.
