Kurt, thanks for the helpful videos. I especially like the APT for Idiots. I learned a lot about APT from your videos. One thing you can do rather than writing down the coordinates and typing them into APT is to just use the Catch RA/Dec/Angle button when editing your object in APT. This will download the coordinates from the object (star in this case) you clicked on to center your target. I use this feature all the time and I frame up my targets just like you for different scopes and cameras. It is a great feature. Just thought I would share since you helped me out as I was getting started.

Great video. You can copy the coordinates from Stellarium into APT. In Stellarium click on an object to select it. Then in APT hold down the SHIFT Key and click on the Objects button in the Gear tab under GoTo. It will populate the goto information. You will need to set the Planetarium application to Stellarium in APT Settings. And you will need to amend the "Remote control" plugin in Stellarium settings to Server Enabled. Change Stellarium first and leaving it open then open and configure APT.

Very good video, Kurt! I also use Stellarium as a planning tool/target finder. I like the library of objects it has, and I am sure it will keep me with a long to-do list for a long time.

I love using telescopious. There is a telescope simulator that allows you to enter all details for camera and scope. Gives you a window that you can then frame on targets. Also allows you to copy coordinates to put into Plate Solving in APT etc.

I was searching for info on how to add the camera lens info. When I added the 50mm lens, my view is just crosshairs not a rectangle. Also, my DSLR is a Canon EOS 60Da and I cannot find all the specs on it online. Mostly for the camera the boxes of the pixel width/height from there down. Can you provide information on entering camera lens info? I have taken many photos with my DSLR using my telescope as the camera lens. But I want a wider field of view and have camera lenses and can mount my DSLR to the top of my telescope. I have just started trying to use Stellarium. Sure would like some help.

Its the content and not the intos Kurt! You get straight into it...Dylans? I just totally miss it and move to the important info. Keep up the great work with APT.

Neil Degrass Tyson says " You Cannot see the curvature of Earth if you are 2 millimeters off this beach ball" - He was talking about Felix's Red Bull Jump at 230, 000 feet. " He continues to say, " That stuff is Flat!" Can someone use this and go up 230, 000 feet and look down on Earth to see if the software model agrees with Neil because if it doesn't and actually shows curvature, the software is Wrong.. at least according to the unproven heliocentric model.

Intro's are boring and people just skip anyway. I've got it down to a science.
