NSPCC Helpline domestic abuse project: listening to concerns

An NSPCC Learning expert insights series on the NSPCC Helpline domestic abuse project.
The project sought to extend the capacity of the helpline to support contacts who have experienced domestic abuse. In 2023/24 alone, our Domestic Abuse Practice Advisor team provided specialist advice in response to 819 Helpline contacts and acted as advocates for 60 women experiencing domestic abuse.
In this video, experts from the NSPCC explain reflect on the importance of making people feel heard and understood, avoiding victim-blaming language, and how the insight from first-hand accounts strengthened the NSPCC’s work on influencing government policy.
