HOW TO BUILD A RAISED WOODEN KOI POND!

Показать описание
Japanese koi are some of the most beautiful fish you can get, in my opinion, and to be able to build a raised wooden koi pond in my own back garden for the first time ever is incredible! With help from my dad who has had many ponds in the past, we built a new pond in two days! In the future we plan on bringing his current fish down from where they currently live, to live in this pond, until my dad builds a new pond in the new house so he can have them back and I can then get my own baby Japanese koi!

Let us know what you think of the build, maybe what you would have done differently, or what you really liked, and even what your favourite fish is!

I literally had purchased all my lumber already, and was starting to feel a little overwhelmed. Watched your video, and I'm completely excited and remotivated. Mine is going to be almost exactly like this, only 1 foot longer, and a 1 foot ledge on 3 sides for added water garden

Is it absolutely necessary to have a solid concrete bottom? Adding a concrete slab would up the cost, a lot!

Thank you for sharing! Just found this video since I started on a DIY turtle pond inside and this was very helpful! Now I have to check out more of your videos for sure.

Just one question: Did you cut of the liner under the decking, or did you attach the decking on top of the liner afterwards to hold it in place?

Won't the wood that is in contact with the cement start to rot? How long does it last?

Not bad... looks as if on video water level is off a touch. On a slant. But good job.

I'm going to do a similar build for North American native fish. Trying to decide whether I want you use wood or cinder blocks. I've got quite a bit of wood working experience and ZERO masonry or block work experience. However, I feel like the block pond would outlast wood. How long do you think a structure liike this made of treated wood can last?

How thick is that pond liner and what is the material called? I understand there are different plastics and thicknesses so wondering what your dad uses ?

Nice pond and size, I have only one question as I’m thinking to build my first pond… In the event of heavy rain for days in uk, how is the water level maintained? Did you make any emergency holes for the water outlet? Thanks
