I use a puller occasionally, but it certainly isn't my go to method, just an option in the tool box.

You know why I use a puller? Because I know it'll work. Some of the other methods used might not, then you've wasted that time and end up breaking out the puller anyway.

I’ve done countless motor change outs. Both with and without using a puller. Only advice I have against using a puller is DO NOT mess up the threads on the hub for your set screw. Other than that I’ve never had a issue

He just stuck in his ways that’s all let him. What’s a min or two to pull it out of your truck As long it gets the job done

Get you a couple nice seized up blowers you heat one up and I'll use my puller. I can guarantee I will be done first.

Get stuck in *traffic* imagine all the time up in smoke. I use a puller, because one time early in my HVAC career, I mushroomed out the shaft of the blower tapping it. I take the time to take the blower out of the attic too. Oh my there's another 5 mins. I'm not a drag racer, so maybe that's the difference? I am fast off the line, but you don't get paid to win a race. You get paid to fix it. I've been pulling blower wheels for almost 29 years now, not to brag anyone with tenacity could do it. 😀

Most of the time you don’t need a puller unless it’s a rust box

I use a puller the fastest way possible that God didn't intend. I use the forbidden impact driver, and it takes me maybe a minute to set up. If I don't need it, I won't break it out, but in commercial HVAC, mechanical issues are more common than any other, and each issue is exaggerated. I run across a lot of those "rare" situations that require these pullers because the machines I work on are run into the ground. Usually, the bearings have exploded out the bottom of the blower housing, and the puller is 1% of my job time since I have to wrestle the entire thing out of a 10 year old York anyway.

I've been doing an HVAC work for over 30 years and only one time that I need a puller and that's because the motor shaft was so running rusted it was swelled and there was no chance of doing it anyway even with a polar wouldn't have gotten it off so I ended up replacing the fan and the motor and that's after 30 years of HRAC work

My tech guy says I need a new blower motor for my WaterFurnace 5 series unit. They say it costs $3200, does that sound about right?

Use the puller if needed.. I think he's lying tho

He's sayin he has EVERY PULLER. And he says he does not use pullers at all and they are a waste of time.
But he has a COLLECTION of pullers...??
Sounds like he has spent alot of time and money using pullers.

I bet he keeps one of his 10 pullers in the truck at all times 😀

I used a puller for the first time. Setting it up took 30 seconds. Only way it could be a timely thing is of u are not pulling the blower housing.

Idk seems like a nonsense topic...

Host: next up, should we use keys on doors.

Born before 1970 : I have tons of keys- 24 right cher on my hip in fact... takes too long to go through em. I mean u got a winda ova there, a brick over here, I mean it take too long to pick out a key and implement it on the door.

Born in after 1980: the door was locked, so i did use a key to open it... it ain't take long, am i missing something, I don't see the prolllem. If the door was not locked, id juat open it. If it was locked, Ida opened it with the assist of a key. Sometime I put the key in the door to discover the deadbolt was not even engaged... O'well guess I wasted 5 seconds in hindsight.
