Probably one of the most haunting pieces of audio ever recorded from the bloodiest battle in history.

Imagine being an 18 year old German Soilder, -30 degrees, surrounded by people that want too kill you, hearing this all day, everyday. Literally hell

Normally this may not sound too frightening, but when you’re starving and freezing to death with your enemies closing in, and mere footsteps send you into fight or flight, there is no doubt this will be absolutely horrifying to hear.

I’m scared while listening to this and I’m home. How frightful was this while being in a hole in the middle of winter.
Poor soldados

Man, even listening to it from the safety of my room puts me on edge. I can't imagine what it would've been like on the battlefield.

I guess the Americans took notes and used the same tactic in Vietnam war. Operation wandering soul

It's a real shame that there haven't been one ultimate movie made about this battle that can actually capture its utter destruction and operational complexity. All the American, German, Russian made movies tend to focus too much on the personal POV and fail to encapsulate the sheer size of the seige/ battle.

The scary part is that the message was in German so the Luftwaffe divisions knew what they were hearing

They played it with the song 'Tango de la Muerte' (Tango of death) in the background

What interesting guys have gathered here. Well, imagine that you are a 17-18 year old Russian guy, dozens of tanks with the support of artillery, infantry, and aviation are tearing at you on a narrow section of the front a couple of kilometers away. Everything is on fire, explosions and deaths every second. Your enemy allegedly wants to free you, and many would like to overthrow the Soviet government, but the enemy has come to destroy and enslave you, to change one yoke to a much worse one. By the end of the war, you lose everything - relatives, friends, relatives - the enemy has killed 28 million people on your land in 4 years of his outrages. Are you still only sorry for the German soldier?
