If men were getting discounts this suit would have been filed faster

It is, by definition, discrimination. Do I care if a bar has Ladies' Night? No. Am I upset that Californyanya is suffering the consequences of their own actions? Also no.

Why are men supposed to just eat discrimination? If men got a discount they would've gotten sued.

You dealt the cards, play the hand.

There's 10000 of these frivolous lawsuits a year targeting businesses for discrimination suits, harassment suits etc.

7:50 sean, they shut down male only gyms but women only gyms still exist. There is no "guys night" at the bar to balance out the ladies night. Thats why these lawsuits matter. Until enoigh people are damaged by the absurdity, no one will do anything. These lawsuits are golden and well deserved.

The idea of "Lady's Night" has become obsolete in today's modern environment.

1:55 OK, then it's discrimination. Like, this is exactly what people wanted. Equality. Is not just when it's convenient for me.

How is this not the spirit of the law? The idea is to not have different pricing based on immutable characteristics? If it isn't specifically to stop discrimination like this then what is it for? Would you feel the same if it was whites night where white people get cheaper drinks or free entry?

Either it is fair to discriminate on immutable characteristics or it isn't. This is the correct application of the law.

He said go to a bar and meet women!!? As soon as a lady touches alcohol, she is no longer responsible for her actions and you will end up in jail.

I normally agree with most of AJW's takes but not this one. This is discrimination, doesn't matter if its the nonsensical "reverse" discrimination or a minor issue, it still is discrimination based on sex. No reason guys should just accept it, no reason women should be given special treatment like cheaper drinks. Maybe this is a frivolous lawsuit by a bloodhound lawyer but doesn't mean the reason for the suit isn't valid.

How is a "lady's night" special discriminatory in a state where anyone can identify as a "lady"?
I bet they could've won their case asking the plaintiffs "What is a lady?".

I'm fine with it. Lets not pretend it would be ok if men got half price drinks and the women had to pay full price.

How is it not a sex based discrimination? Because it's not against women? ...

Maybe if there were no lawsuits over the existence of mens night or mens club or even mens only locker rooms(remember the female reporter who sued to be able to get into the locker room for interviews?) then this would be a frivolous suit.

I strongly disagree at the opening premise. California voted to end discrimination. This is discrimination. Why is this difficult to understand. They demanded equality. We have equality. There are tons of annoying laws. This isn't one of the.

Nobody sued the women's tearoom that charged men more.

Theming a bar is not the same as charging different prices on immutable charateristics.

Letter of the law, not the spirit: really? You think a business treating men and women different based solely on their sex _ISNT_ against the spiritnofnthe law?

Does the irish guys get half the price of the blacks in that irish bar? If not, how are these two things compareable?

Well, technically it is discrimination. I never did like it.

It is sad that a well intentioned small business was put out of business. However, if circumstances were reversed and men were getting discounts simply for being men, and they weren't offering equal discounts to women, then a women's rights group would 100% sue that business. Additionally I doubt you'd be arguing that businesses should be allowed to give sex based discounts if men were the beneficiaries. If we are pursuing egalitarianism and equal treatment based on sex, then I believe that this lawsuit was justified.
