To borrow a line from a movie, "A man could spend his entire life searching for the perfect cherry blossom, and it would not have been a wasted life...they are all perfect." I've often thought that the "they are all perfect" part referred to the cherry blossoms, but recently I believe it refers to the type of life you live. I think it means that there is no such thing as a wasted life. Even if you go out and do nothing but the most atrocious acts, your life can still stand as an example, and inspire people to be better. I believe that your Uncle inspired people. I also believe that you inspire people, and maybe we won't all show up at your funeral, but that's only because we don't live within driving distance. My condolences for losing your Uncle.

I think the measure of someone is the impact they make on others in the world. His life, or death obviously effected you. Now there's some random dude in Pennsylvania feeling bad about the world losing a man like Ron. That says a lot about the measure of him.

Funerals aren't for the dead, they are for the living. You were there for your Aunt to support her and show that you care. Don't feel guilty. If someone close to me died, I wouldn't want a stranger next to me, balling their eyes out. I would want the people close to me.
May Ron rest in peace.

We measure a human life by the impact they make, positive or negative. Each of us have our own unique abilities and methods to forge this impact. You may not live up to his deeds, but he didn't have the gift you have to speak. So see him as an inspiration and maybe try to learn from him, but don't beat yourself up for not being him. Your purpose is not the same as his. Focus on your gifts and have them reach their potential. I'll be watching!

Condolences for your loss, Joe! Your uncle Ron sounds like an admirable person.

There are many measures of a person, and none of them are adequate. Everyone lives life, and the best you can hope for is to do it on your own terms. Ron seems to have done so, and as far as I can tell, so do you

I work Funerals all the time and it never fails to choke me up while they do the roll call. It's just a reality check knowing that person is going to be missed. Best wishes to you and your family.

I was a volunteer firefighter for two years and attended a funeral for a life member (20 plus years) and it’s amazing to see departments and vehicles from all over show up for one person. It’s well deserved based on how you describe him. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I don't believe that there is a weight to peoples lives, more their ripples in the pond. How their life affect others as those ripples impact everyone else. No friction, no inertia, these ripples carry on forever. In that giant collective consciousness of the universe, we will know and appreciate people in ways we cant explain now or ever. Your Uncles sounded like a phenomenal guy. I'm sure his ripples will keep shaking people in amazing ways for a long time to come.

Your Uncle Ron was a great man. The fact that you didn't realise it until his funeral makes him even greater.
Both your Uncle Ron and you have my greatest respect.
Rest in Peace Mr Ron Keeter.

Your uncle lived a good life, and lived it well. If only we could live such meaningful lives. Thanks for this Joe. All my best to you and your family.

I had to drive to Lubbock and back that day and stopped at the Allsup's across the street from the church. I thought they had shut the town down there were so many emergency vehicles. It was an amazing site. I had to ask what was going on. I am assuming from other comments you have made in other videos this is not a coincidence. Clerk told me it was for the Fire Chief Ron and he had been a band booster, also. He clearly put his time to good use.
