I have to disagree with Pixel here, this is very useful from a number of standpoints - I'm trying to get a 360 stream via the Ricoh Theta S remotely so people who are immobile can put on a VR headset and visit wherever I can ship out a 360 cam and a broadcasting box. Having these sort of commands (even a 15 second timer), or at least knowing how to tackle the API, is going to make that project a heck of a lot easier for people using the broadcaster that are technical luddites.

Craig, I got here from your excellent article on hacking the Theta S - can I ask how is your progress? My ability to muck with stuff drops off dramatically when it gets to doing my own stitching, but I'm having a heck of a time getting these two fisheye outputs on a live stream to an equirectangular viewing. You mentioned that Ricoh was going to enable this via an API possibly? Do you know if the HDMI out would be pushing out the ER stitch or would it just be regulated to USB? I'm trying to find a player that would stitch it on the fly and again, it's over my intellect level (no worries, it's a low bar).

Regardless, can't thank you enough Craig for your open work on this. I have a 7 cam gopro rig with live streaming software I hope to have working by the end of the month for potential clients, but that will not be movable and requires constant supervision to get working. With your work here I'm shooting for a person in a retirement home to take a car ride with their son a few states over, something I may be able to do with these APIs once they receive a theoretical Theta S and streaming box. Just need to sort out the ER stuff on the streaming or receiving end!

Are you serious? This looks so useless. Bulky, clunky, so much work required in here.
Creating a tiny wifi remote that executes Theta commands sounds like a better deal, or just making a smartphone/smartwatch app that triggers delayed shutter.
