The Fairfield Four have said it themselves, “When you are looking at us, you are looking at history—the oldest teenage group in America.” Catch toe tapping, foot stompin’, jubilee style, African- American a cappella gospel singing, going back almost 100 years to the group’s beginning in 1921. The group is best known for their appearance at the end of the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? and the subsequent soundtrack release.
Presented in collaboration with the Library of Congress American Folklife Center’s Homegrown: The Music of America series.
