PS: Fast forward to 2 years later, unfortunately our wedding got dropped. After we moved in together, things went sideways as we were struggling to have a proper work-life balance. And after a few days I got transferred and the long distancing wasn't the best for us. Moreover, her father wasn't my greatest admirer.
It didn't work out in the best way possible for us, but it was true and magical while it lasted. I hope she finds what she's looking for.

*The Dance*

“May we have this dance?” I turned and saw a shine from a pair of glasses with a gentle smile resting below. I was surprised because in a suit was my classmate, Charles. Charles was in my math class and seen by all of his peers as a nerd. He rarely spoke, so much so everyone believes the only voice he has is the one in his head. And yet, here he is in a suit with his dirty blond hair swept to the side like grass in the wind, asking me to a dance.

I agreed. Not because it was polite to do so, but that I wanted to see if Charles was more than the nerd everyone assumed him to be.

“Yes, ” I replied. He took my hand like it was made of glass, and looked at me with warm hazelnut eyes that seemed to melt me. I put my hand on his strong shoulder and he put his hand around my waist. We started slow dancing to a graceful song and I felt like I was melting into his presence as he calmly led us in dance.

He looked at me like I was the most beautiful flower in the queen's garden. I couldn’t help but feel safe and comforted in his arms. When he spun me I felt like a rose going into bloom. Every step I took was in trance, in awe of how beautiful this moment is. Time seemed to slow and it was like no one was around.

When the song ended we stopped our dance and looked into each other’s eyes. He smiled and a hundred butterflies took flight inside me.

“You are a wonderful dancer” He said before he walked away. I couldn’t help but watch him go until he faded into the crowd.
