You Will Never Be Rich #shorts

A short take on how you will (almost certainly) never be rich. You are much more likely to become homeless than you are to ever be a millionaire. America is composed not of "temporarily embarrassed millionaires," but a small number of rich people and huge legions of people barely scraping by.

"I shall oppress myself as much as possible because I don't want to deal with pesky unions once I become filthy rich." - a temporarily embarrassed millionaire.

I think it was Fry in futurama who said something like "Someday I might be rich, and then people like me better watch their step."

People that defend billionaires and don't want policies enacted that redistribute wealth because they believe that one day they will become billionaires that can exploit their workers are delusional and embarrassing

People can't even imagine the difference between one million dollars and one billion dollars. If you got $1 per second, $3600 per hour, how long until you're millionaire? About 11 days and a half. But how long to be a billionaire? Over 31 years. And that's with getting $3600/hr even when you're sleeping, a salary impossible to achieve without exploiting others' labor. Now think how long it would take to have Jeff Bezos' 214 billion dollars. It's mind boggling.

A simple, surface-level analysis of conventional corporate structures dictates that there is simply not enough "room" in a capitalist system for everyone to become a high-rolling C-level executive. Quite the opposite: by definition, most workers will never escalate beyond a certain level in their lives, no matter how skilled or earned they may be, because for every promotion opportunity there are necessarily more prospective candidates/applicants than there are available positions.

Corporate structures are basically just a multi-level marketing scheme, and someone's always left holding the bag: the workers.

Even small business owners, which most of them see themselves as part of the rich, are indebted and operated on a very small margin. That's why in a way, small business owners are more delusional and self-entitled than many billionaires. Also, aside from your extremely miniscule chance of becoming rich, you can't become rich if you chose to stay on an honest path even if you have the right opportunity.

We look back at history and wondered to ourselves how Kings stayed in power so long, and how anyone could be so stupid as to believe: "God chose them to rule. They earned their crown". But nothing has changed. Now they just say: "They worked hard to get where they are. They earned that money."

I agree. Most of my HS classmate of 52 years ago, ended up dying young, borderline poverty or retired working class. My dad was always working, always dreaming of coming up with that one great plan. He was the model that proved to me, not going to happen. He died middle class from his everyday job, still dreaming of the great break through event that would make him rich.

People still don’t grasp the magnitude in the difference of billion and million either

"And now, 30 seconds of the bleeding obvious from the Gravel Institute."

Such a bummer things like this need to be said.

I have so many fellow working class friends who believe they are just one good idea or one lucky break from being a billionaire. They worship Elon Musk and Bezos while struggling to make rent. It’s terribly sad how true this is, and how many of these ‘temporarily embarrassed billionaires’ will fight tooth and nail against anything that might help them or their fellow working class countrymen, simply because of their delusions of one day being a billionaire

As someone who went from being a $40k/yr IBM employee to homeless in 3 years, I can verify those odds mentioned. Even now people still believe that there is credibility in books like Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich". You just make Hill's estate a bit richer when you buy another copy of that book.

I don't know if I'd ever *want* to become a millionaire, much less a billionaire. I feel like that kind of power just corrupts the shit out of you and forces you to lose so much perspective.

I'd be happiest if I ever peaked at 100k a year at most, and even then, I'd just be content with paying my bills on time and living comfortably.

Requirements to become a billionaire:
1. Be born into a wealthy family that will invest in your future and your ideas.
2. shed yourself of empathy and compassion to the fullest extent possible
3. Learn how to exploit people on all levels and manipulate their actions & decisions
4. Profit by paying your employees as little as possible in every country, region, and city you can & fire anyone who questions their pay or rights.

Without these requirements don't even consider trying.

With that mindset, you definitely never will.
