The Pawn (Intro) - Amiga

The Pawn was a text adventure game by Magnetic Scrolls in 1985. It was released on a variety of platforms. I played it on an Atari ST when I was a young boy, but I never knew that the Amiga version actually had music on its title screen. It's quite an unusual tune.

Title music by John Molloy, developed using the Greengate DS3 system.

One of the first games I bought for the A500... what a treat. I couldn't speak or read English well back then, so I couldn't finish the game. The song leaves a very palpable feeling of mystery and fantasy, it was a truly great and exciting intro. PS. John Molloy who composed it passed away in 2018 at the young age of 58.

Legend! Remember seeing this when I was a six year old. Didn't believe my eyes and ears as I had an XT home with monochrome and an awful PC beeper :-)

I resurrected my Amiga 2000 after it sat in a closet unloved for nearly 20 years. Accelerator PAL chips dead in the water. SCSI drives unreadable. Jury rigged color video cable from a printer cable, as mine disappeared But I spotted this disk in one of my caddies and popped it in and was greeted by this great track in the darkness of my workshop illuminated by only my meager lamplight.
Great way to set the scene as that kickass HAM image loaded up and this banger starts playing.!

One of the first games on my A500. It did have an hi screen picture in HAM mode and this incredibly beautiful sampled tones music intro: a promise for the incredible audio capacities of the platform. Quite a leap in front of what we had heard from a home computer till those days. I previously owned an Atari 520STFM, a good machine, but the Amiga was something else entirely. I haven't heard it in decades. Thanks.
