March 20th call for Truman members and stakeholders on the implications of COVID-19 on a range of national security-related sectors.

Panelists:
Dr. Rebecca Katz, Truman Security Fellow
Dr. Katz is an associate professor at Georgetown University and director of the Center for Global Health Science and Security. She is also an expert consultant to the Biological Policy Staff at the Department of State in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation and a member of presidential candidate Joe Biden’s Public Health Advisory Committee. She’ll be speaking on the best policies the government should adopt to prevent widespread infection.

Karen Karniol-Tambour, Board of Directors, Truman Center for National Policy
Karen serves as the head of investment research at Bridgewater Associates, a Millennium Fellow at the Atlantic Council and a 20-year board member at Seeds of Peace. She will be speaking on COVID-19’s impacts on financial markets.

Dr. Kamal Kalsi, Truman Defense Council
Dr. Kalsi specializes in emergency medicine with a subspecialty in EMS and disaster medicine. Dr. Kalsi served for 16 years in active and reserve duty positions in the U.S. Army and recently published this piece in the NY Daily News. He will be discussing on-the-ground realities in U.S hospitals.

Camille Mackler, Truman Security Fellow
Camille serves as the director of immigration legal policy at the New York Immigration Coalition. There, she leads advocacy campaigns to improve laws and policies for the benefit of immigrants across New York State and the United States. She will speak to the impacts this virus is having on vulnerable populations through an immigration lens.

Stone Conroy, Truman Security Fellow
Stone Conroy is the senior analyst for the Geopolitical Analysis & Intelligence team at United Airlines, where he conducts assessments of international security issues and provides analytical support to security leaders during crisis situations. He will discuss the impact of COVID-19 on the aviation industry, as well as implications for military movements around the globe.

Marcus Coleman, Truman Political Partner, DC Chapter Director
Marcus Coleman is a senior associate at HWC Inc., where he supports emergency management and resilience projects that promote individual and community level actions to reduce risks against disasters. From 2013 – 2018, Marcus led the DHS Center for Faith & Opportunity Initiatives (formerly the DHS Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships) disaster operations and disaster readiness activities.
