Why new cars are a RIP-OFF!

When it comes to luxurious cars, it doesn’t get much better than the Bentley Continental GT.

The problem is, they aren’t exactly the cheapest cars around! A new Continental GT Speed costs from around £237,000, and the car that we have here (with a couple of options added) costs close to £300,000!

So what if you want to get your hands on a luxurious car but don’t have that sort of money lying around? Well, you’d look for a second-hand option, of course. And that’s just what Mat’s done for this video!

Mat and the team have done some browsing online and found a Continental GT from 2006 for just over £10,000 - cheaper than the carbon ceramic brakes on the new Bentley! The question is - for such a low price, is it all a bit too good to be true?

Well in this video, Mat’s going to put the two cars to the test. From their design and interior quality to putting it through a full professional inspection, Mat will reveal whether it’s actually possible to pick up such a luxurious car on the cheap!

The question is, if you had a spare £10,000 lying around, would you be willing to risk it on a second-hand Bentley? Let us know in the comments!

That old Bentley is ONE HELL of a car - but I'd always be terrified of something breaking.
A neighbour i knew, bought an old Rolls Royce (for only about £6K, i think) tons of luxury & lovely to drive - but it had many age related problem (all minor - but too expensive to justify fixing)

Even if it's "Cheap", Mat buying every car he had on on his wall when he was younger and couldn't afford is such a blessing. May he keep it up. Awesome to see him grow this channel to this level.

Me and my friends have all run cheap conti's from 2004-2010. They are surprisingly easy to live with as long as you go into it prepared for 2 things. 1: 15mpg is a good day. 2: 5-10k a year on running costs / maintenance is normal. Be happy if you save on that.

If you're at peace with those things then I highly recommend a cheap conti.

5:34 I do prefer this, a good starter motor adds some character to the car

As always the sweet spot is somewhere in the middle. You can get a 2020 model (which has the exact same interior and exterior except the front lights) for under 100k EUR in Germany

2 hours labour to find the engine problem £1300 pound. So £650 pound a hour. Can’t think why some garages get a bad rep.

The low mile paradox.

Sometimes its better to get a higher milage car, lets say above 120k, since most cars start showing problems at 60-80k miles, and most people try and get rid of them before that, so they dont have to repair it, and the new owners almost instantly has to, while with the above 100k car you know that those problems have been addressed by the previous owner, or the car would not have reached that milage

We hear so much these days about the state of the car industry, with falling ev sales, government pressure and the threat the Chinese car manufacturers pose. But when new cars are so over priced, heavy and overloaded with incredibly expensive tech and mostly unnecessary complication, I wonder if perhaps they will turnout to be there own worst enemies, and equally responsible for their eventual downfall.

Does brake test comparison really make sense when you have old crappy tyres on the old car? They are not limited by braking power but by grip clearly.
