To thread your needle take about 6"  tail of your piece of yarn at the end, fold in half over the EDGE of the eye of needle holding the two halves pinched very tight against the needle so your thumb nail will be right up against the needle and yarn halves creating a sharp crease.  While still pinching tight on the yarn pull the needle out, Take the straight edge created and with a  slight sawing motion back and forth of the eye push the crased folded edge through the eye till you can pinch the edge and pull through the needle. Adjust yarn for sewing.  TaDa!  Been a knitter for over 50 years and this how you thread a yarn needle.  I hope these instructions are clear as it is so easy and quick.  And THANK you for your tutorial!  Great job!

Thanks for so much inspiration. I've never worked with plastic canvas, but watching your tutorial has my wondering if I can take some of your ideas, eg the tardis with the drawers and mod it a bid to make a case to carry my makeup when I'm travelling - loose shadow is great, but not so easy to travel with so better if I can make something that will contain the pots so that don't move around so much and I can't seem to find any decent travel cases with forces me to get creative. Now I just need to work out what nerdy think to theme in on, , , , hmm...

hi paul i bought a book on plastic and i thought i would try my hand at cutting out a cupid it went okay but when it came to stitching it i did not under stand how to do it said to use up right cross stitches or back stitches or Gobelin st or tent st or overcast st or french st i tried up right cross st but it did not work then i try back st and tent st and the gobelin st i am new at this so can you give me any advice. were do i start this cupid the book i got this from is leisure arts. help me please

Do you know how to make a pattern bigger or smaller than the original using the same plastic canvas count size. Example: say I have a pattern and when finished it is 20x20 holes but I want to make it 35x35 holes or 10x15 holes all using a 7 count plastic canvas. Is there a way to do this?

So just a question. I have been just starting into plastic canvas and decied to make a MTG bag and plan on putting the swamp/black skulls on the sides was wondering what type of stitch would be best in covering the complete skull any help is great apprecaited

Hi PauL, Thanks for the video, now I needlepoint birth announcements with all the details, names, date, weight etc etc. they are approx 5x6 on a fine mesh, my problem is, that once the work is finished, there tend to be "humps" in the work, so that when I frame them I need to put all sort of paper behind the work in order to not have these "humps " shown, is there any way one can flatten the canvass upon completion?? worrried about putting an hot iron on the work for fear it may melt!!
whatever suggestions you may have I would appreciate.
