Roof chop dilemma... gotta manipulate it to fit 🤨

preview_player

We wanted this to be a clean chop with minimal cuts. So we chopped the roof in an unconventional way by slicing the back of the roof at the belt line. We did this so that we can slide the excess inside the car and then just weld the seam without having to make sail panels. Except, we ran into an issue making the rear fit so we're going to have to manipulate it to fit 😵

Chad take notice of the two dents in the top rear corner of the roof. That is your difference. Get those dents out, that should solve your problem.

he says he has one hour into the chop...😂😅 ..this guy nearly fell over when he saw his cuts and tried fitting it the first time.... Guaranteed he spent hours correcting it before this 😅😂😂...I love watching this guy...its like let me show you what NOT to do...

I'm not a metal worker but if you bang out the dents in the left rear of the roof won't that move the bottom more to where you need it to go?

The reason the end of the tape measure moves is so you can get a inside and outside measurement

I'm not understanding why you can't see that the dents have shrunk and drawn the sail panel up and over. If you look at it, you should be able to see that the dents need to be dollied and hammered out and the panel will expand to meet the belt line.

Chad I love the way you Chopped the Top on this Car! It looks GREAT, I especially like the way it looks when you’re in Front of it!! It has almost a Mail Slot front window! This is Going to be a Stylish and Slightly Gangsta Ride! Keep up the good work, Shoutout to Jolene for her Camera work and other things she does for the show! 🔥🚗🤴🏻& 👸🏻❤️💯

Before you even started you should have gotten rid of the dents in the roof. Those dents are putting tension on everything.

You're nuts for not fixing the dents first. It's obviously in a bind.

Of course you have to, it's not a square box 📦 99% have to be cut in multiple places, I've lost count of how many I've done years ago, anyway keep choping 😊

You as I said before are absolutely amazing as the example you just gave especially the
13 inches on each side between the belt-lines and the getting the rear of the roof up against
the rear belt-line area. absolutely amazing.

Hell of a way to manipulate that rear structure lol.

The dent in my head is causing you grief, Chad. You need to fly down here right now and fix my head before you weld that top on...

I never get bored watching you. I offer nothing advice-wise because I get this for a simple like a day. I appreciate what you two put up for content and what you tolerate... Keep on truckin'

Hey Chad & Jolene, the roof is looking good so far! A bit of a fight on the damaged side but, you got it Chad! Jolene nice job as always with the video and production! Are you excited Jolene to be getting a more powerful and better looking car to race? You will definitely have a lot more fun with the V8 engine!

You are quite the Craftsman. Or a artist... Or both... I love to watch this. I always wondered how you chop a top. You make it look so easy. I guess it's the time one puts into it. Thanks for sharing this
