BTS Deliver Message Of Hope For Fans

BTS delivered a message of hope during The Korea Society's virtual Annual Gala.

The K-pop global superstars accepted the General James A. Van Fleet Award, given annually to one or more distinguished Koreans or Americans in recognition of their outstanding contributions to U.S.- Korea relations.

The group thanked The Korea Society and talked about building solidarity and sharing hope through music going forward.

Before BTS made these speeches, they probably spent days and countless hours practicing and going over every word to make sure no one feels hurt from their messages of hope and strength. Personally, I didn't find anything offensive in RM's speech. To think that they got all their deals in China cancelled because some people can't understand their positive message is disappointing. Hopefully, BTS or Big Hit won't apologize if they don't feel like they've done wrong. Love BTS, Love Each Other's 💜

South Korean boy band #BTS is strongly condemned on #China's social media for their speech after receiving James A. Van Fleet Award. Chinese netizens said the band's totally one-sided attitude to the #KoreanWar hurts their feelings and negates history.

And I personally don't think there is something wrong in joon's speech..
Why are they even mad !!

People seem to not understand the situation they are in.

They are being awarded for their contributions on SK and US relationship. Therefore, it is only wise for them to focus their words on the two countries or make it general. Mentioning other countries can be slightly out of context. They can mention China's contribution during the Korean War but only if they receive something like BTS contribution on SK-China relationship.

When I speak of how Britishers colonised India for 200 years, I don't expect British people to get offended. It's as simple as that. It's not like I'm blaming the present day british people, I'm simply talking about our past. And I'm not making up stories.
So, I don't understand why chinese are getting offended by RM's speech. It's not like RM even said anything directing hate towards the Chinese. He was just respecting his countrymen and women who sacrificed themselves during that war. Cant he even do that now?

The fact that Chinese people are mad about this just shows you what they're truly like. They don't care about the millions of lives that were cut short because of the Korean War, all they care about is their messed up reputation. I personally don't understand how somebody commemorating a whole entire war is considered _insensitive._

Following this speech, FILA and Samsung China have deleted all BTS-related content from their websites and social media, and some Chinese citizens are calling on BTS to apologise for their “one-sided” speech. If you are Chinese, please could you let me know what was offensive about this? Not being rude, genuinely asking because I thought they were careful with their choice of words. Apparently, it’s specifically RM’s last part.
