I wonder if all the employees there are called 'Job bots'.

After years of working from home, I am not missing the office lunches, the "team building" exercises, or idle conversations between cubicles. I hope office culture and collaboration or whatever dies a quick death.

Yesterday, my family announced an online family store, just for family, so we can buy gear with the family logo.
Today, my family announced that sadly some family members were being laid off and we hope they'll find a new family soon.

I'm sure you've heard it before, but your content is literally life changing. I was never the "obsessive LinkedIn/company family" type, but I did bust my tail for a long time at multiple companies with very little to show for it. I've been dramatically changing course in my career life and putting myself first in ways that of course don't require being bitter or blatantly selfish; healthy personal improvements are in progress in other words, and I've not been genuinely happier in a long time. Thanks for the major wake up call and for helping me become more self-aware 🍻

I used to get shivers in my spine when some at work would say "We're all like family here!".
And then I got into management and learned they tell us to give them a false sense of hope.
I don't work in management anymore.

This just makes me want to work harder with my side hustle! No lies told!

Solid message and 100% the truth... look out for yourself only. Virtually every corporation is like this. My dad worked his ass off at Publix as a bakery manager for over 20+ years. His department did so well, they would send him off to newly opened stores to get up and running. He had the opportunity to move into store management but it conflicted with his church schedule so he didn't take it. Very rarely took a sick day and accrued them over the years. When he ended up getting diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, they only let him use half his sick time before kicking him to the curb. They didn't let him use the other half he had saved up, which at that time was a substantial amount of money for him. I had two negative experiences with them too. Publix is notorious for the "we're a family" and "we take care of our employees" bs and they're no better than any other corporation.

Yeah, been at my company for 24 years and hear nothing but lip service all year long about how great I am, such an example for others, always knowledgeable, willing to help, train, and work overtime, etc. etc. Then when raise time comes around once a year (today) they say "sorry, the budget was tight". Umm, you make 30 BILLION dollars a year and you can't afford an extra 1% of my paycheck to show you appreciate me? sigh. Family my ass.

The president of our graduate school warned us never to work for an “& Sons” company unless you are the company's name or one of the sons. Sound words of wisdom.

More and more people in this generation don't have a loving family, that's probably why people are so willing to call other people their family. They long for a family and this may be their only chance. So they buy into it.

This corporate indoctrination is sad and infuriating at the same time.

any company that makes me "cheer" at any point is a company i would NEVER work for. Employees arent 7 years old and this isnt grammar school so why do they act like it.

This whole thing with companies wanting to merge work and home so badly is super creepy...

Yeah “you’re family” alright until you make a mistake because hey you’re a human being after all and then “you’re fired” and then it’s “just company business/policy” Josh has told us before thanks again Josh for calling out and giving us insight!!

To be considered Family, you have to be there for the person in hard times and help them, that could include financial help, physical help, emotional help, etc.
If you are not performing to the Company's standards, or the Company is losing huge profits, you will be kicked off the "Family" instantly.
Real Life Families don't kick you out because you lack performance or the Family is in trouble.
People fall for this Corporate "Family" crap so easily, they think that if they are loyal to the Company, and if they perform their best, the Company will never fire them. They are living in complete delusion.
A Company's main goal is to stay in Business, not take care of its "Family", if they see you as a liability, you're off the "Family".

You got me at the "I dont want to live anywhere else" part. That's so weird, and those attachment can be dangerous and can me you bitter when your expectation aren't met, or you getting fired.

For real the people I served with in the military definitely became my family but we never tried to make our bay like a home or overly tried too hard to show how family like we were. These people calling their work place a home and saying they couldn't think of anywhere else to live is creepy.
