After winning primaries in Vermont and Colorado on Super Tuesday, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., told a crowd of supporters in his home state that despite naysayers who doubted his campaign, "We are going to win the Democratic nomination." Sanders added that he would beat President Donald Trump because of the "unprecedented, grassroots, multigenerational, multiracial movement" fueling his candidacy. On Super Tuesday, 14 states and American Samoa went to the polls to award a whopping 1,338 Democratic convention delegates, just as the field narrowed to five this week. Former Vice President Joe Biden and Sanders each won multiple contests.
