"Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world." -Archimedes

It was really enlightening. Archimedes' leverage lifted my mind.

this is because of moments.
moments = perpendicular distance × force

your voice is so relaxing, i love it!

Finally physicists start to take over the bullshit with some serious topics! Thank professor

That only works if the lever has the exact mass of the total amount of waights on it(or no mass at all). With every other mass value of the lever, you would need to move the balance point a bit.
Please correct me if i am wrong, this was just a thing that sprung to my head.

This was a really cool and informative video! Also I can tell your multilingual, and your English is excellent, as a tip though the word weight is pronounced in the same way as the word wait, no th sound

Thank god this popped up in my fyp, i was struggling with understanding the lesson since it was in a terrible pdf format

Thanks sir!

Before I watched this video, I was confuse about how the centre of the mass works.

But now you just pop up and gave me an explanation that I needed
Thank you

Learning about this in AP physics, the equation for this is T=Frsin0, where F is force, or mass * gravity, and r is the distance from the fulcrum

This is much easier to explain and conceptualize with torque than the “law of the lever”

I just learnt it through
Anti-clockwise moment x perpendicular force=clockwise moment x perpendicular force

This can also be explained using torque? Where T = r x F or rFsinx where r is the moment arm and F in this case is the gravitational force/weight, mg.

By putting the fulcrum in such a position that the moment arm with the block of weight F has a length of 2 l while the moment arm with the blocks of total weight 2 F amd length l, then the net torque becomes zero.

This

actually very interesting as a person who didnt already know this

You can also calculate this using the equation of torque on both sides of the lever.

Your line segment points should be in the middle of the weights. Still nicely animated.

the formula is m1•r1=m2•r2 where m is mass and r (radius) is the distance to the fulcrum

I think in physics I always worked these out by torque

Taught it faster than my teacher would have

I am actually learning about this stuff in physics I am at eight grade
