Person scrolling thorough the comments section, here's an easy trick I found in a text book ( I'm not taking any credit for this method )
To remember the verbs conjugated with être - DR & MRS. VANDER TRAMP {infinitive - past participle} :

Descendre - descendu
Rentre - rentré

Monter - monté
Rester - resté
Sortie - sortie

Venir - venu
Aller - allé
Naître - né
Devenir - devenu
Entrer - entré
Revenir - revenu

Tomber - tombé
Retourner - retourné
Arriver - arrivé
Mourir - mort
Partir - parti

Note : the verb passer means to pass by a place it is conjugated with être. But when it means to pass time or pass an object to someone, it is conjugated with avoir.

By watching this lesson I just realized that this verb tense works very likely to italian as you could use both avere (avoir) and essere (être) to talk about the past. For example as to say "I am back" (like I just came back) in french you would say "Je suis revenu" just like italian they would say "io sono tornato".
