About The Show:
Only months into their marriage, Jamie (Helen Hunt) and Paul (Paul Reiser) Buchman already find themselves struggling to establish the ground rules for a life together in their Greenwich Village apartment. Charming and creative, documentary filmmaker Paul is also cautious and analytical, while up-and-coming public relations executive Jamie is a freer spirit, although one who harbors her own share of anxieties. Along with Jamie's luckless sister Lisa (Anne Ramsay), Paul's bachelor cousin Ira (John Pankow), and their close friends Dr. Mark Devanow (Richard Kind) and his wife Fran (Leila Kenzle), the Buchmans approach their life together with honesty, charm and humor in the face of the challenges posed by demanding careers, meddling families, former lovers, well-meaning friends and even their dog, Murray.

As hard as this is to watch, it’s one of my favorite scenes. They did a great job conveying the angst, and despite knowing they couldn’t break up and still have a show, there was still a small part of you that thought maybe this was really the end of their marriage. For a show that’s almost entirely based on lighthearted, situational comedy, they flipped the drama switch effortlessly, and had us rooting for them as if it was our own relationship on the line. That’s some stellar acting.

because we all feel like the couples we see argue or seemingly fall apart will never be us. This is what I love about this show. It wasn't about how a couple gets together. It's about how they stay together.

this episode is perfection, honestly. it hurt to see them going through this. it hurt to see him flirting with and almost leaving in a cab with another woman, and it hurt to see her not immediately react to push away a guy who kissed her, but I loved this conversation even though I wanted to shake both of them because I felt like they needed to calm down and talk it through rationally rather than reacting out of their emotions and jumping straight to "this isn't working". the scene where he's packing his bag to leave and then he sees her sleeping and changes his mind- when they decide to make things work even though things may be hard- it makes me cry even more than this scene.

Great writing. Great acting. Brave and real. It was a super show at its best and this episode totally nailed it. I remember watching it at the time and thinking how well they did in not taking sides. Both characters are hurt, both are wrong, both are right - like life. Thats for uploading.
