Trump's alleged concealment of Putin talks due to 2017 leaks: White House

The White House is defending the lengths President Donald Trump went to to conceal details of conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Washington Post reported January 13 that at least one occasion Trump took possession of the notes of his own interpreter and instructing the linguist not to discuss what had transpired with other administration officials.

Senior presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway told reporters Jan. 14 that there was great concern at the White House about leaks in 2017.

Conway denied that the president had destroyed a translator's notes.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff on Jan. 13 floated the possibility of renewing his demand to subpoena the translator present during a meeting between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
