The husband of the exiled Belarusian opposition leader, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, has been sentenced to 18 years in a maximum security prison after being found guilty of organising riots and mass unrest.

In what has been widely condemned as sham trials, five other bloggers and politicians have had a collective sentence of 94 years in prison.

Back in London, the exiled Belarus Free Theatre have been preparing for a performance at the Barbican next year. With five members jailed last year, and fearing heavy sentences if they return to Belarus, we visited their rehearsals to hear how President Lukashenko has turned their lives upside down.

We are all refugees, in one way or another. Lukashenko has attempted, but unable, to flee the past, so now he is acting out on the people around him...
